ShweZiGon Stupa

I always enjoy going to the ShweZiGon Stupa whenever I visit my hometown.

It bring back my childhood memory like running and playing whilst parents offering rice, fruits and water to the Buddha in very early morning.

By the way, the locals refer this stupa as PhaYarGyi.

AyeTharYar Vineyard

Since we have some time on the way to TaungGyi from Inle, we visited AyeTharYar Vineyar, which is the first vineyard to produce wine.

Even though the wine is not very nice, the vineyard scenery is really great.

The Irrawaddy is the biggest and most useful river in Myanmar. We even label it as mother of the country.

The sunset view over the Irrawaddy is so beautiful and amazing.

This photo was taken from ShweSanDaw Zedi. It is the only zedi allows visitor to go up.

I had to wake up around 5am to get a place at zedi to take photos.

Anyway it was enjoyable moments because I visited my hometown as a tourist 20 years after I left.

InnLay Fisherman

In Inle (or InnLay) Lake, fishermen row their boats using leg while standing on the stern. In this photo, the fisherman is dropping the cone shaped net into the water. Later he will use a long sharp spear to drive fish into the net.

I took this photo when we are crossing the lake in the early morning on the way back to NyaungShwe.

Our mother, DASSK is also trying her very best for her people, for the next generation in Myanmar. Now I am feeling a bit guilty for living in comfort zone without contributing to our motherland.

InGyin Wood

In A-Nyar Scenery photo post, I mentioned that I went to ZeeO Village to visit InGyin Wood. You may be wondering how the wood look likes...

Before I got there I thought the wood is very dense because I've heard many stories about the wood. We are not sure whether all stories are true but everyone who live in nearby villages do not dare to take even firewood from the wood because they do believe that something will happen to them if they do without permission. That permission is definitely not from authority, but the people who cannot be seen and looking after the wood. You might have doubt about that but I really thank to them. The wood is still there until now because of those who we cannot see....

But the climate in Bagan-NyaungOo region is so hot that InGyin trees have been dried and fallen more than it can grow.

This wood has been more popular since Myanmar's Democracy Leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi visited there recently.

1,000 Years Old Tree

This Tamarind tree is believed to be 1,000 years old by local villagers.

As you can see how big the tree compared to people in the photo. Hope this tree will still be there for very long.

When I went inside of the Dhammayangyi Temple in the evening, the natural light is still playing a pivotal role to make bright inside.

The Bagan architecture are still the greatest in our country.

I went to ShweSanDaw Pagoda and climbed up to the top to take famous Bagan Sunset photo. Unfortunately, the weather was not in favor to take sunset photo.

Everyone is disappointed. One lady told me that she came to view sunset for third time. That day was her last day in Bagan. I felt sorry for her. I really wish that she could view very beautiful sunset of Bagan.

Another Typical ANyar Scenery

The production of Palm Jaggery is the main occupation of the people of villages in our township. Jaggery, is produced from palm-juice (toddy), which are used to make various Burmese snacks.

The sweetness of Jaggery is very unique.

This photo was taken at ZeeO Village Primary School. When we arrived there, it was a break time and all students are reading interestingly books.

Small and untidy library, torn and old books cannot stop their desire to read.

When I view this photos, what Sayar Aung Thin, a well-respected and famous Burmese writer,  told us came in my mind. He told us that

"One's reading habit doesn't happen once you give a very good book to him. The habit has to be nurtured since young.

First you give cartoons to children when they are about 3-5 years. Children may not be able to read but they will read drawings and start having thoughts and imaginations in their mind.

From 6-9 years old, children will pick up cartoons with descriptions and narrations.
After that they will slowly change what they read...
Next step, children will read books writing about supernatural, then adventures, after that romance, and life...

That's the way of nurturing children to love reading books..."

Bagan in the morning

This is the view I have seen nearly every day until 1993. I used to live in Nyaung Oo (Bagan) until I passed the high school. Everyone said Bagan's scenery is amazing but I didn't realize it when I was there.

When I went back there for the first time in a decade, I realized that that is the most beautiful place... but changed quite a lot. We should keep ruins as it is. Otherwise it wont be an ancient city that people valued.

On the way back to the Mahagandayon Monastery from U Pain Bridge, we saw a young monk studying on the platform surrounded by water, under a banyan tree.

I don't have any idea how he got there without wetting his feet.

This is one of most dramatic sunset I have ever seen. I saw this sunset when I was on a bus to Bagan from Mandalay.

I couldn't resist to take this sunset photos even though I had to take out my camera from the luggage.
